WebsiteTalkingHeads.com can place your video spokesperson wherever you want on your website.
Today one of our clients asked me where I thought they should place the video spokesperson on their website. This is an important question and the answer is dependent on a several factors. A Talking Head can be placed virtually anywhere you want. I think my client was asking me what would be the most effective.
Here are a few issues. Are you doing a full body video spokesperson or a half body? A half body should not be place just anywhere. Why? Well, if you place the half body video spokesperson in the middle of a page without any kind of border or line on the bottom, it will look like you have a half body floating in space. You want the half body video talking head to have the effect that he or she is standing behind something. So, I recommend placing it at the bottom of the window. or inside of a header.
Now where? left, right, or center? The video spokesperson should be placed where it can be the most seen and useful. The most accurate anser is usually going to be on the bottom right. This is from the simple marketing rule that we, in the Western Hemisphere read left to right, so, our eyes will naturally go the the bottom right. This is a great plan unless you have something realy important that you want a client to see on the left. Maybe (that’s only a maybe) it would make sense to put the video spokesperson closer to to the spot you want seen and acted on.
What about full body video spokesperson? Now where? This style opens up even more options, but it comes back to a simple thought. Where will the video spokesperson be the most effective. We do you need her or him to do? Think it through and just make a decision. Oh and by the way, you can always change that location anyway so do fret too long over that.
Here are some little tidbits to be aware of:
- Covered Links. Wherever you place the flash talking person, be aware that you will not be ableclick on the links behind it while it plays. Even the transparent part will block the mouse. So, don’t cover your most essential buttons.
- Control Buttons. You should have an Exit and Play/Pause button on the video so that a customer can stop the video if necessary.
- Appropriate Size. make your video spokesperson proportionate to the rest of your site. I have seen a few sites where the video spokesperson was way too small. You couldn’t see the actors face. Facial expressions are important.
Oh yes there are more tidbits, so, check back soon. WebsiteTalkingHeads.com would be happy to take a look at your site and recommend a plan of attack for your video. Give us a call at 801-748-2281
